Awesome! I remember singing this in elementary school (over 40 years ago).
Thanks for posting this, Chet! Took me back to 6th grade when I learned “Waltzing Matilda.” I’ve always loved the song and yes, I did sing along!
Loved the song, of course. Made me smile. But the pictures of the men and the house and country brought back many wonderful memories. I live in the “wilds” of New Mexico. Well, not so wild as it was when I was young, but compared to most places I go to these days, still pretty wild. We are a self reliant bunch and though we have friends to help when necessary, we hate to ask! Thanks.

Wonderful Thanks so much. Took me back to Backpacking around Aussie 1988 and lots of camp fires in lots of different Aussie suroundings with lots of different people. Good times. I sang along loud and clear, but there’s no one here to hear me, family have all gone out. Karen x

Great music equates to the beginning of a fantastic day, that’s how I see it. This has already motivated me to go to my job today, which honestly is a mission in itself. I had not listened to any kind of Australian music before but I may just peek into a little, its soothing!
Australian folk singer Eric Bogle wrote a WW1 song called And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. An incredible and moving cover was done by Liam Clancy, an Irish singer.

WONDERFUL!!! I used to sing this when I was a child.
waht a marvelous song, yet I sang along, you always do with the late Slim Dusty, not only a fabulous singer but what a wonderful human being he was.
