It’s a crying shame that Buddy Holly died so young because his talent deserved the time needed to fully bloom.
With that said, he continues to amaze me, even now when I sit here as an aging boomer of 61 instead of as a teenager back in the early 60′s who got goosebumps listening to some of his songs.
Well, what a pleasant surprise it was yesterday to learn of a Buddy Holly song that I’d never heard of… a demo of a tune called Learning the Game that he apparently recorded by himself on his guitar in his apartment.
I don’t know about you, but I’m fond of singers who offer us their work in its simplest form… just the artist and the instrument, especially if it’s an acoustic guitar. Johnny Cash American Recording comes immediately to mind as an excellent example of what I really like with this sort of thing.
I also like the fact that I’m working on recording my own first CD, which features the songs I’ve written accompanied by moi on my guitar.
Enough from me.
Below I’ve embedded the demo of Learning the Game that I found and liked so much yesterday:
Nice, eh?
