The Power of Small Stuff

I’m going to post a meditation every week or so in this category because meditating is one of the best things you can do to lead a healthy and happy life.

To start this series off, let’s turn to the English poet, John Ruskin, who observed…

He who can take no great interest in what is small will take false interest in what is great.

Peace and bliss exist everywhere around us but especially in the small things.

And, of course, we overlook the small things most of the time because we’re running around like chickens with our heads cut off.

This week consciously slow down enough to take notice of the little things around you… flowers, bees, blades of grass, paperclips, mouse pads, even a piece of lint.

I know that sounds silly. But if you slow down, take a long slow deep breath and truly focus your attention on something small — no matter what it is — you can find a moment of peace and bliss.

You don’t believe me?

Try it.

  1. “I read in a weekend supplement all about this but I threw it away, but basically, if the insect is hanging close to your garden – then it is just hanging around. I’ve seen stuff like mesh, which can deter those with little mouths, but you’d have to make some sort of construction of it. Even a greenhouse has its problems because the insects might be there.
